DAC6 Compliance Manager Role – Leading Law firm (Full time or part time)
Background
DAC6 an EU Directive (Council Directive (EU) 2018/822) that introduced a reporting obligation for intermediaries, including law firms, in respect of certain cross-border arrangements that have particular characteristics or hallmarks.
DAC6 Compliance Manager Role
The role involves working with 2 senior Tax Partners (the “DAC6 Team Leads”) and firm’s Practice Area Leads (“PALs”) in implementing the firms compliance with the firm’s DAC6 reporting obligations.
Reporting Responsibilities
-Work with the DAC6 Team Leads to monitor the completion of the DAC6 questionnaire for all new matters opening on the firm’s software solution, DAC6 Manager.
-Monitor completion of DAC6 questionnaire for all ongoing matters on DAC6 Manager
-Monitor reporting status and follow up with PALs where a reporting deadline is 21 days, 14 days and 7 days away
-Ensure that legal privilege is waived for the purposes of DAC6 reporting, if appropriate
-If a transaction will be reported by another advisor, ensure this is noted on the DAC6 Manager and the tax reference number is received and recorded on the DAC6 Manager.
-If there is uncertainty as to whether or not a transaction is reportable, escalate it to the technical review team
-Work with the DAC6 Team Leads to agree transactions to be reported, after appropriate internal sign off
-Work with the DAC6 Team Leads to file report by the due date
-Monitor receipt of DAC6 tax reference numbers from the Revenue Commissioners
-Ensure that the DAC6 tax reference number is shared with other advisors if appropriate
As this is a new role you will not necessarily have DAC6 exposure, however we are interested in speaking to candidates with 5+ years of experience in a compliance/AML/Tax role where you have had to work with senior key stakeholders. You will be the go to person for this new policy and process within the firm. You will have experience with policing and ensure best practice is adhered too. You will have the ability to lead, advise and mentor your peers with regards to this new process and directive. Ideally you will have worked within a private practice or professional service firm.
